Cancel Painful Mistakes... The Groundhog Day Technique Revisited!

(I originally wrote this article in 2002. It was quite popular back then and I improved this version with a little editing.)

Do you feel stuck on the treadmill of life? Are your days less than exciting and lacking fulfillment? Do you regret certain things you've done and wish you could have a 'do over'?

Then you may be interested in learning what I call "The Groundhog Day Technique." Part of this technique, I gleaned from the book, Awakened Imagination, by Neville Goddard and the other part, from the classic movie "Groundhog Day," with Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell. I've used this method with great results for years. May it be as useful to you.

Awakened Imagination has a chapter on forgiving yourself and recreating your day, the way you would have liked it to go, in your imagination. By closing my eyes and viewing the day, the way I want it to be, I am, in a sense, rewriting my reality. It's just like being in the movie Groundhog Day.

In that movie, the main character, Bill Murray (the egotistical weatherman Phil Conners), constantly relives a snowy Groundhog Day (up to 10 years worth of the same day), February 2nd in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. For most of the movie, Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania is the last place he wants to be. This is the town where if the groundhog sees his shadow, we are supposed to have six more weeks of winter.

Every morning he wakes up at 6am to the same old song and voices on the radio, and its Groundhog Day all over again. Everything is exactly the same. Things can only change if he takes different actions. He is the only person who remembers what happened on the previous versions of Groundhog Day. For everyone else, it's like any other normal day, and they don't know what is going to happen or remember the past versions of the day.

It is one of my favorite movies. He goes through many different experiences. He realizes he doesn't have to suffer any consequences because the next day he gets to start all over again.

Therefore, he indulges himself with all sorts of food and pastries. He finds out personal details about a woman so he can convince her they went to the same high school in order to get her to sleep with him. On later days, he starts breaking the law and he ends up in jail, but in the morning, he wakes up in the hotel and its Groundhog Day, all over again.

Later he kills himself. He does so several times but the next day he wakes up in the same bed and it's Groundhog Day all over again.

After thousands of days of the same day, he starts turning himself into a better man. He starts saving people, taking piano lessons, learnes the names of all the people in the town and gets to know just about everyone.

Eventually he is able to get his girl, but only when he's given up on that goal, via manipulation and trickery and instead is just doing good deeds, all day long and being himself. She ends up loving him because of the man he became. Previously he tried to seduce her by knowing all her interests but she intuitively felt something was wrong.

It is a wonderful movie and even has a few funny moments in it. I don't understand why people call it a comedy. It's actually a deeply inspiring spiritual story.

Your Own Groundhog Day

In essence, we have our own Groundhog Days every time we wake up. We can choose to live our lives and get the most out of them or be like Bill Murray was at first; very negative and self-centered. Each day is a chance to improve on the previous day. And we can even correct problems from the past.

How To Do The Groundhog Day Technique

Before falling asleep at night, simply visualize your day the way you would have liked it to go. Do you wish you didn't do or say something? Do you wish you had worked on a project instead of channel surfing the TV for 4 hours and having watched nothing interesting? Just look at your whole day and see areas of your day the way you wish they were. Make it a reality in your imagination. Even if you got negative news, replay it in your imagination in a positive light.

Even if events happen, you can take away the sting by visualizing a positive outcome. Say you had an argument with someone at work. You can visualize the experience, as having gone on without any confrontation at all. The amazing thing is that your visualization will affect the other person on a subconscious level. I've proven this in my own life repeatedly. We are all interconnected spiritually. If you send out positive vibrations, then only good things will come back to you. You don't have to react to circumstances -- you can create them.

If you visualize bad things, then bad things will come back to you. Don't be quick to anger because it will come back to you. Your thoughts are very powerful -- you must be careful with them. Be careful in how you speak to yourself, in your inner dialogue. What you say will manifest itself in some form in your life. It may simply manifest in limited thinking and therefore limited results.

Now to the second part of the technique: I start my day in the morning by visualizing how I would like my day to go. You can visualize things you expect to do. You can also visualize meeting people or having a day of adventure. You'll certainly have a better chance of attracting these things into your life if you expect them to happen. You can even repeat to yourself that you are going to have a magical day. Try it, it works.

Say it Now: "I'm going to have a magical day."

I've been getting fantastic results. I get much more accomplished. Plus my day is infused with the magic of imagination. I live the life I've imagined and it is extremely enjoyable.

Visualization is equivalent to programming a computer, except you are programming your own mind. It's a great way to get you doing more of what you really want to do, even if you have some initial resistance or bad habits.

I just do a short reading of a spiritually inspiring book and then I do my visualization for 10 to 15 minutes. Then at night, I do another visualization as I go to bed and relive my day the way I would have liked it to go. But as I'm improving, I find less need to revise the day because I am more and more happy with the way my day is going.

You could shorten the technique even more by doing it at night in bed as you are falling asleep. Then in the morning visualize your day going the way you want it to go while you are still in bed. Even if you just put in 5 minutes a day, morning and night total, the technique is quite effective because you are creating your day rather than reacting to it.

Another thing you can do is to revise past events that are still bothering you. They could have been from years back. However, if you have guilt or anger from a past event, that anger is still affecting you in the present. You have to forgive to be able to move on in life.

Anger and feelings of guilt, attract discord and negative results in your life. That is why it's not good to be argumentative or to be pessimistic. You attract into your life what you imagine and what you BELIEVE you are. Why not be an optimist instead? You'll find that you have a much more positive and magical life when you do this.

I think you'll really enjoy this article

This is an absolutely beautiful and uplifting article by Sun-Rose, one of the members from our local raw food support group The Raw Health and Happiness Society. The article is excerpted from her newly published book called A Radiant Life.

I love what she wrote and how she wrote it. I wish I could write this well. I'm sure it is divinely inspired. If you aren't careful you'll miss the spiritual subtleties of the passage.

I remember quite well the meeting Sun-Rose was talking about. We're not just going raw for ourselves, but our example helps many hundreds and possibly thousands of people around us. I wish you all could have been at that meeting. We have some highly evolved souls who share their wisdom with us.

If you live or ever visit the New York City area then you might want to take a look at our local group's website: http://RawFoodNY.com. You can also sign up for email alerts for upcoming potlucks, meetings and other raw food and health related activities going on in the Metropolitan area.

Commitment by Sun-Rose

This came really clear in our raw food support group meeting last night, about how our purpose and commitment – or lack of it – can be a blessing – or a minus – not just to ourselves, but for all. We're not in this by ourselves – separate little egos wanting to be healthy and happy and gorgeous. What we're doing – being raw – is more about being conscious – alert, alive, awake and aware – than about healthy bodies. As Ralph pointed out in the meeting – the point is not only health but happiness.

Folks were sharing about being tempted by cooked or even junk food and giving in to it. – Commitment is a way to sail joyously through the sea of temptation. Commitment to what? To being a living blessing for others – not just for ourselves and our 'chosen' circle.

A larger purpose is always a tremendous help with commitment; perhaps because somewhere within consciousness we know that we have an Eternal Connection with everyone and everything. So when we aren't just doing this for ourselves, we get a wonderful support from the unseen Whole of Everything.

Temptation is only the little nasty voice (voiceunder) that loves to beat you up. First it puts on a sweet seductive voice, reminding you of how comfortable that baked potato is – how satisfying the pizza or whatever the poison is. And isn't this the same voice that says to the drug addict: "Time for another fix." – to the drinker: "Happy hour time!" – to the gambler: "This time you're gonna win big." – to the anorexic and obese: “junk time.” – and continues to whisper (although it's really a hiss): "Just one more (spin on the wheel, fix, drink, candy bar) ... "

As we're wrestling with our temptation, there may be millions of others wrestling – and our commitment may be the pivotal one in the world that either adds to giving in – or gives the strength to some or all of the others to say “No!” this time.

There was a church in seventeenth century Germany where all the members of the congregation had little stone lamps that they would bring with them, bearing a small candle inside. The service was in the evening, and the illumination of the church came from those candles. If the church was full, it glowed. If only a few members came, the light seemed faint and sparse.

We don't need lamps and candles. We are the Light, either hiding it under a bushel or – scary as it might be – letting it radiate forth.

Was Popeye Right?

*** Superbeing Secrets ***
Raw Food, Fitness & Self-Mastery

"Discover The Surprising Nutritional Content Of Popeye's
Power Food. Learn How To Get More Of It And How To Enjoy It!"

Have you signed up yet for the Green Cleanse we are
starting on December 11th? I highly recommend you learn
more about this. It's an easy way to improve your health.

==> http://www.HowToGoRaw.com/GreenCleanse.html

The other day I was doing some research on discovering
which raw foods have the highest alkaline mineral content.
The major alkaline minerals are calcium, magnesium, sodium
and potassium. Any raw foods that are high in those
minerals will be alkaline forming.

As you may or may not know, it's very important to keep
your body properly mineralized and at the same time
functioning at the proper blood pH level of about 7.4.

Eating a cooked food diet will make you more acidic. Also
eating too much fat in the diet will make you more acidic,
because fat interferes with the body's ability to deliver
oxygen to the cells. Also nuts and seeds tend to be higher
in the acid forming minerals of chlorine, phosphorous and
sulfur. A high protein diet will also make you more acidic.

Keep in mind that it's also possible to be too alkaline.
The key here is the proper balance.

** A Common Mistake Many Raw Foodists Make **

A mistake I've noticed many raw foodists make is in not
eating enough mineral rich leafy green vegetables. This is
vital to your success. When you consume a high quantity of
mineral rich foods, you'll notice that your cravings for
cooked foods will go down dramatically.

We must eat lots of fruit to fuel ourselves, but fruit
alone is not enough for us to thrive in the long term. We
also need a food that is like a supplement, it's not high
in calories but it is high in nutrients. Dark, leafy green
vegetables are high in minerals, vitamins, fiber etc.

Finding a way to enjoy eating leafy greens and even more
important, finding a way to properly absorb the nutrients
from these foods is vitally important.

Victoria Boutenko and her raw family started seeing their
health deteriorate after many years of being raw. It turns
out they didn't really like eating greens. After extensive
research she eventually realized that the lacks of greens
in their diet was why their health was less than optimal.

In her book, greens for life Victoria talks about a way in
which anyone on any diet can improve their health. By
simply adding a quart of delicious green smoothies to their
diets.

On December 11th a new Green Cleanse is going to start
featuring extensive support and information from Victoria
Boutenko's research and experimental findings. This cleanse
is specifically for subscribers to my newsletter. Visit the

** Learn All About Popeye's Super Food **

The first food I analyzed for its alkaline mineral content
was celery. Then I analyzed spinach and found it was much
higher than celery in alkaline minerals.

In fact, spinach was high not just in minerals but in
virtually every major beneficial nutrient as well. Maybe
that is why Popeye was so strong when he ate his spinach.

Let me give you a quick rundown of the alkaline minerals
in 25-calorie servings of celery, spinach, kale, romaine
lettuce and banana.

Celery

Calcium: 62.0 mg
Magnesium 17.0 mg
Potassium 403 mg
Sodium 124.0 mg

Spinach

Calcium: 109 mg
Magnesium 87.0 mg
Potassium 614 mg
Sodium 87.0 mg

Kale

Calcium: 68.0 mg
Magnesium 17.0 mg
Potassium 224 mg
Sodium 22.0 mg

Romaine Lettuce

Calcium 48.0 mg
Magnesium 20.0 mg
Potassium 358.0 mg
Sodium 12.0 mg

Banana

Calcium: 1.0 mg
Magnesium 8.0 mg
Potassium 100 mg
Sodium 0.0 mg

As you can see, all of these green vegetables are alkaline
forming foods, but spinach is the overall winner. Even
celery is higher in alkaline minerals than kale is. That
was a surprise to me.

Spinach also has a better than perfect amino acid score of
119. Thirty percent of the calories from spinach come from
protein.

It's high in dietary fiber and its sodium is of course in
the organic form, which our bodies utilize naturally. It's
the inorganic form of sodium which is toxic to us and every
cell in the body.

** Sea Salt Is Not A Health Food, No Matter What You've
Read About It **

Sea salt or rock salt is not a health food no matter how
many unabsorbable trace minerals it has. If you drink a
glass of seawater you are going to get severely dehydrated,
drink enough of it and you'll die.

Why would consuming the salt, minus the water make it any
healthier for you? This is just another marketing gimmick
to get you to buy something which actually damages your
health.

Spinach is also very high in these vitamins: A, C, E, K,
B6, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin and folate. Spinach is
quite high in these other minerals as well: iron, zinc,
copper and manganese.

What many people don't realize is that per calorie,
spinach has over six times more potassium than bananas do.
In fact, most of the green vegetables I tested had a higher
potassium level per calories than bananas.

This is not to say you shouldn't eat bananas, it's just to
point out that we've been taught to think of bananas as the
highest source of potassium when they really aren't. In
fact, there are a number of other fruits that are much
higher in potassium than bananas.

** No Need To Worry About The Oxalic Acid In Raw Spinach **

Some people are concerned that they'll leach calcium by
eating spinach. It turns out this is quite unlikely to be a
problem for most people.

Here's a quote from Dr. Gabriel Cousens book "Conscious
Eating," on this very point.

"In one extensive study on children put on a high-spinach
diet and other high-oxalate foods, no evidence of any
alteration of calcium, vitamin D, or phosphorous metabolism
was found. It is possible, however, if a person has a low
calcium intake or poor calcium metabolism, that a high-
oxalate diet could cause a calcium deficiency."

Another factor is whether the spinach is cooked or raw. In
the raw form it's believed the oxalic acid will not bind
with the calcium. In other words, eat as much spinach as
you want as long as it's raw.

Did you know that many other raw foods naturally contain
oxalic acid? Foods like sesame seeds, nuts, citrus fruit,
tomatoes, asparagus, beets, Swiss chard, dandelion greens
and cranberries. So if you haven't been worrying about the
oxalic acid content in these foods, I don't think you need
to worry about it by increasing your consumption of spinach.

** How To Add More Spinach To Your Diet And Enjoy It **

I've been adding more spinach to my diet by putting it in
my smoothies. I've found that it doesn't change the taste
very much at all. And by blending the spinach in my
Vitamix, I make the nutrients from the spinach more
absorbable.

Most people don't take the time they need to chew
properly. Even if you are eating big salads, you are likely
not absorbing the nutrients from the vegetables well
enough, unless you've chewed every mouthful down to its
liquid form.

-------------------------------------------------
Banana, Blueberry and Spinach Smoothie:
-------------------------------------------------

3 ounces water. Add more or less depending on how thick or
thin you want your smoothie to be.

3 or more bananas

4 ounces of fresh or frozen blueberries

3 or more ounces of raw spinach

This makes for a delicious smoothie and at the same time
you are making sure to get extra mineral and nutrient rich
food into your body.

If you want to learn more about Green Smoothies, Blended
Salads, Blended Soups and Puddings and how and why they'll
improve your health then visit this link below.

You'll also learn in detail the scientific reasons why
this will improve your health. Make sure to read up on the
Roseburg study in Victoria's book, "Green for Life," which
you'll also get if you join our Green Cleanse. I think
you'll find the information on the chimpanzees fascinating
as well.

It doesn't matter what diet you are on, adding green
smoothies to your diet will improve your health and
happiness.

A Masterpiece: The Best Diet And Raw Food Diet Book I've Ever Read

I've been waiting for a book like this to be written for the last 7 years. Dr. Douglas N. Graham's "The 80/10/10 Diet," is truly a masterpiece on not only the raw food diet, but on a low fat diet in general, even if it isn't raw or vegan.

People from all dietary backgrounds can benefit tremendously from reading this book and gradually getting their caloronutrient (means nutrients that contain calories) levels in to the 80/10/10 range.

For people following the raw food diet in its many forms, this book will clear up hundreds of little and big issues you may have been having. Also everything is so cleverly stated that it will make better sense to you. Reading and fully understanding this book will make you somewhat of an expert on raw food nutrition.

Virtually everything you need to succeed (minus coaching and support like what I offer at www.HowToGoRaw.com) with the raw food diet is provided in this thoroughly researched and comprehensive raw food book. I absolutely love it and give it my absolute highest recommendations.

This is a must read, if you want to be exceptionally knowledgeable in raw food nutrition. I already know that many so-called raw food experts and gurus have no understanding of much of the information in this book. If they did, they wouldn't be making such dangerous nutritional recommendations to their clients and patients.

In my opinion the raw food diet is being destroyed by people making absolute nonsense dietary recommendations. When new raw foodists follow these popular diet gurus and have worse health than when they started, then that's not a good thing for the raw food movement in general.

But this is precisely what happens. I know because it happened to me and many other people I've come to know and coach.

Luckily, I persisted until I found the right way to eat raw. And trust me, there is a right way and a wrong way. It doesn’t depend on your body type, blood type, where you were born, racial heritage, metabolism or dosha. Again, this is all thoroughly, logically and scientifically explained in this fabulous book.

It's basically the compilation of all of Dr. Graham's knowledge about the raw food diet. I've gone to many of his lectures and this book is like attending 20 of them, plus discovering the latest information he's uncovered, plus having scientific references to back up much of what he says.

On every page and in almost every paragraph there is information I want to underline. And if you are new to raw foods, you'll likely want to underline almost the whole book.

Much of what you read will be contradictory to many of the current and popular raw food diet nutrition books out there. But once you see the reasoning behind it and realize all he's really doing is recommending a diet that is closest to what we'd be eating if we were living naked and out in nature in the warm tropics with no tools. This is the way the first humans all survived. We weren't born with clothing, ovens and spears.

Virtually every last detail is explained. If you've been irrationally scared of eating fruits, you'll understand why you shouldn't be. There's a whole chapter called, "Meeting Fruit Concerns Head On."

Do you wonder where you'll get your essential fatty acids on this diet? The book explains this in detail. What we people don’t realize is that just by eating a calorically sufficient diet of fruits and vegetables we'll be meeting all of our needs for essential fatty acids in the best possible way, a 1 to 1 ratio.

Are you having troubles determining what you should eat at each meal and each time of the year? Problem no more, as there is an appendix with a weekly meal plan for each season of the year.

Do you want to learn how to gain or lose weight? This is explained quite thoroughly in chapter 9, "Stabilizing Your Bodyweight."

I also love the detailed first chapter that explains our true dietary nature. Comprehensive information from many different sciences are used to demonstrate what humans should really be eating. It's common sense once you have the correct facts and can see the complete picture.

One of my absolute favorite parts of the book is when he talks about "Fragmented Thinking or Logic." Dr. Graham equates that with the story of the 6 blind men trying to determine what an elephant really is like by touching it in one spot.

This is the problem with every single nutritional theory out there that doesn't come close to agreeing with the 80/10/10 principles. They look at the part and base their rational on false premises.

If the foundation of your argument is a false premise then your whole argument is false. And this is the case in every single diet in the world except the low fat raw food diet.

This is a great book to have if you want to prove a point. All you have to do is ask the skeptic to read a certain section and they'll likely realize the folly of their argument. At least if they are open minded.

It's comprehensive at 348 pages and the print is actually on the small side. So there is quite a bit of information in this book. This took Doug 5 years to write and get edited and ready for the world to read.

There are also about 20 great testimonials of people following this diet in the back of the book, plus a fantastic Frequently Asked Questions section.

Reading this book will clear up so many issues and false beliefs about health and nutrition. You'll finally have supreme confidence in what you're eating. Virtually all of your doubts will be removed.

You can get "The 80/10/10 Diet" from the link below. The book is now available and should be shipped to you immediately upon your order.

http://snipurl.com/14b9v

I'm sure you'll enjoy this masterpiece on raw food nutrition. There simply is no other book out there that's like it. Each chapter is like attending a three-hour lecture from Dr. Graham.

Story of Gratitude... 2 Families Completely Transformed By Going Raw

Hi Friends,

I have a truly uplifting story to share with you. This is such an amazing story of transformation, of before and after. This woman learned about the raw food diet and her family of eight members and her sister's family, which I believe is even larger, have completely transformed their lives because of switching to a raw food diet.

I truly believe some of her children's lives as described below have been saved. Lives of misery have been transformed to lives of beauty. It's all because of the dramatic effect raw foods have on emotional health.

We even have documentation of a raw birth and how much eating raw made the child healthier and giving birth easier. You get a little bit of everything in this story.

Cheri Jones became an active member of http://www.howtogoraw.com/ the best place to learn the Raw Food Diet Success Mindset. During her membership and active participation on our coaching and support forums, her life, her families life, her sister's families life and other members of her extended family, have dramatically improved their health, emotions and lost a lot of weight.

Cheri's own story is dramatic, so I'll start by sharing her testimonial and then details about her life before going raw. This way you can see how really far she has come. It's quite shocking actually.

Then you'll also love to find out about the miracle Raw Baby (later he becomes Raw Boy) her sister's son that hates cooked food and would rather starve than eat it. It's such an uplifting story and that kid is always laughing when he gets to eat raw food.

This is a great story to share on this Thanksgiving weekend that we are celebrating here in the U.S. This is really my favorite holiday of the year because I love giving and gratitude.

I hope this Raw Food ripple effect story; will help many people who were sitting on the fence about going raw.

-----------------------------------------------------------

This is Cheri Jones's story. Parts of it she wrote
to me via email and the rest is taken directly from
our forums at http://www.howtogoraw.com/.

From Cheri's Testimonial at http://www.howtogoraw.com/testimonials.htm:

"I no longer use a motorized wheelchair... I went to the site and always found help"

March 23, 2006

I am a raw foodist. I love how that sounds. I started raw after hearing about it from a friend last August. This same friend recommended HowToGoRaw.com, so I checked it out.

I signed up right away and started posting in the forum. There were many times in the beginning of my raw journey that I struggled. I went to the site and always found help.

There were days when I was cranky and depressed. (You know you are a raw foodist when your children ask you if you ate cooked just because you are a little cranky) Days where I wondered if being raw was worth it.

It was a struggle for me because I had to give up everything that was comfortable to me. The hardest food for me to stop eating was cheese. If you had asked me before I would have said chocolate, but it was cheese.

I needed a cheese substitute and found it. (You know you are a raw foodist when you grind up nuts and call it cheese) I received the support I needed. I found a couple of on-line friendships that I value.

Raw Food is a miracle for me. I feel better than I have ever remembered. I have confidence in this program that I've had in no other; confidence that I am doing the healthiest thing for my body, and confidence that I can continue to lose weight until all of it is gone.

I have lost 60 pounds. I no longer use a motorized wheelchair. The pain in my knees has disappeared. All the numbers doctors are concerned with have come down and into normal range i.e. BP 101 over 68. Above all else, I feel wonderful both emotionally and physically. Raw really works.

(Roger's Note: Cheri has been transitioning to raw since August, 2005 and has lost 90 pounds. )
--------------------------------------------------

Cheri's Raw Beginning

October 09, 2005

I have a friend in CA that has been 100% raw for a few years now. When she first talked about it, I felt something stir inside. I asked her, so what do you eat? She said," Fruit all day and a lovely salad at night."

I said, "OK, so what do you eat?" She said the same. I did not get it and she was not good at explaining it, besides I didn't like fruit and salad.

Finally my mother was diagnosed as borderline diabetic; my sister has diabetes plus high blood pressure and high cholesterol. The worst thing is, my baby, my six year old daughter, climbed into my lap and said, "I like skinny mommies better than fat mommies." I could not help myself and started to cry.

I decided to lose 30 pounds. (I need to lose 100). I decided to drink protein shakes for breakfast and lunch, eat raw for snacks, and eat dinner with everyone else. My other sister and I live together and between us we have 12 kids.

(Note: Cheri's sister has had another baby since this time and it was a birth in which she had been eating mostly raw food.)

After the first week everything happened fast. We were reading and studying everything and anything trying to decide how to best eat and regain our health. We started to wean ourselves off of things like sweets, milk, butter, meat, etc. It was hard for us because our husbands were against it. And then there are the children from the age of one to 16.

Then we were eating mostly raw. Our health improved dramatically.

For example, my blood pressure went from 140 over 80 to 102 over 68. Our skin is smoother, our eyes are clearer. We have more energy. I am talking feelings of being high, like on drugs.

We sit there with our raw food and just start laughing at how good it makes us feel. I can't imagine going back, although I must admit that it is still very much a struggle on some days. My sister and I had a rule that we can "cheat" on Sundays. That is also the day we chose to celebrate the kids' birthdays with birthday cake. But we are finding the desire to eat any other way on Sundays is not as appealing as it once was.

Today if I feel deprived, I'll ask what I am depriving myself of and the answer will be ill health.

Cheri's Background

August, 2006

The first half of my childhood was spent with my grandparents. My grandmother and mother were pregnant at the same time, so my uncle is the same age as me. Many times my uncle and I were left alone in the house.

We would eat an entire jar of jelly or a loaf of Mary Jane bread (same as Wonder I think) or nothing on some days. I don't remember what we ate in elementary school. When my older uncles returned from Vietnam, my grandmother cooked large meals; roast, rolls slathered in butter, green beans with potatoes, onion, and bacon bits all tossed together, mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn.

My grandfather brought home Krispy Kreme doughnuts and we'd have doughnut eating contests. He often took us to get doughnuts.

Whenever we visited extended family breakfast was always sweets.

My grandfather died from diabetes, my half-sister has it, my mother is borderline, my grandmother had it, and an uncle has it. I am always tested for it, and last time I was told my sugar is too high, and to be careful. My mother was told at her last doctor visit that she is to go on diabetes meds (last week).

My mother always ate bags of candy. I think the entire bag in one sitting, and for many years I felt I needed to have M&M's or something to eat whenever I read a book.

My husband was also raised in a family who ate what I ate; meat, potatoes, and a vegetable from a can and sweets for breakfast. His mother was also obese. His brother and sister also struggle with their weight, he could stand to lose 20 pounds.

I can cook. My grandmother taught me. The men in my life bragged on me but when the kids started coming, I wanted to eat less meat and less fat. I had no idea what I was doing as this way of eating was opposite of my family, so it did not last.

And I fell into what I knew. I took my kids to Krispy Kreme. I bought them candy. Friday nights were movie night. I always had soda, cookies, candy, and popcorn to eat while we watched the movie.

When the kids went to school I packed their lunches with a meat sandwich with mayo and white bread and a Kraft slice of what, a juice box with no juice in it, a granola bar, bag of potato chips, and a ding dong or a pack of cookies.

My husband was always depressed and angry about something. Life never went his way. He was a downer. He complained a lot. He was dark and depressed.

All of my children's behavior has improved because of raw foods, but I only want to talk about the remarkable ones.

One teacher called me in tears because of my son, C. Every single year in school his teachers have complained about the same things with him. When he was in first grade the teachers pulled me into a meeting with the school psychologist, the principal, and the teacher. They wanted me to put C on Ritalin. I refused.

Then I refused to attend any more of these meetings where it seemed to me that they were setting it up so that they could force me to put him on it. This by the way was not in Texas. C was almost kicked off the school bus. His dad picked him up from school and made him walk home, then got him up early the next day and made him walk to school. This sort of punishment had no effect on him.

He would yell and scream irrationally. We could not reason with him. As soon as I put that kid on raw, there was almost instant improvement. I can reason with him for the first time and he is eleven years old. I have yet to see how he will be in school as this is his first year raw and school. I am looking forward to seeing how that goes.

My daughter, R, has been the biggest problem. She was born angry at the world. She cannot be reached in any way while having a tantrum. She throws herself onto the floor screaming like a two year old. She has thrown herself down the stairs while screaming.

I am ashamed to admit, but my behaviors toward her in these moments were not good. That is vastly different now that I am raw. Her tirades no longer affected me which make her angrier. She began kicking me. When I was S.A.D, I kicked her back. Now that I'm raw I leave the room. She follows me. She has followed me down the street yelling and screaming while I am driving away to get away from her.

When she was younger (two and three years old) I had to put a leash on her to keep her from running off. If she became angry she would throw herself onto the ground, and I would drag her. One adult yelled at me, "You are dragging your child!" And my response was, "Well if she would walk I would not have to drag her." I too had a problem.

She is in fourth grade this year and has always given the teachers grief in school. We have had many calls about R. She doesn't focus, she gets out of her seat at school, she talks way too much and says inappropriate things, etc. And have we ever considered putting her on Ritalin to help her focus?

My oldest daughter, H, went around the house saying snide remarks to get everyone into arguments. It was unbelievable. You'd have to see it to believe it.

And still after all that I had no clue that it was what we ate, and that our house could be different.

As for me, I was depressed, angry, needed a wheel chair if I was to go anywhere. I was diagnosed with arthritis and I limped about the house. My feet and ankles were always swollen. I stayed in one room of the house playing Nintendo and watching TV, eating Reese's and Chips Ahoy, Cherry Coke and Lays. I look back and my God, my poor children. I hope they are not permanently scarred because of me.

As for the rest of my problems, this is what I wrote in my journal when I started to transition to raw food:

" Bursitis in left shoulder
" Acid reflux disease
" Intense migraines
" Depression
" Pain in my arms and legs which causes them to twitch
" Post nasal drip
" Blood pressure: 140 over 80
" Cholesterol: 220
" Low red blood count
" Pain in my left arm
" Numbness in my hands
" Peeing three times in the night
" Arthritis in both knees (I walk with a limp in left knee when its really
bad)
" Use a motorized cart at Wal-Mart or any other place I need to go.
" Pain in-between shoulders, neck, and head upon retiring to my bed in the
evening
" Kidney stones (They want me to have surgery, but will my body will heal
it once raw?)

***Can no longer read w/o reading glasses
***Pain in my lower back
***Pain in my buttocks that extends down my leg
***Arthritis in both hips

I also made a list of reasons I no longer want to be fat:
" I don't want my children to be ashamed of me
" I am careful not to sit on certain furniture for fear I will break it
" I sit in the middle of benches, because if I sit on the end I might
break it, or I might tip it up in the air
" I have to ask for an extension on an airplane
" My clothes are T-shirts and Spandex
" I hurt everywhere
" I cannot run and not be weary nor can I walk and not be faint
" I order all of my clothes from the internet
" I can't wear my wedding ring
" I snore
" I am depressed
" I get out of breath just by washing my hair in the shower
" I have to sit down in the shower because I can not stand for more than a
few seconds at a time
" I do not attend my children's school events because it takes too much
effort to get out of the car and walk across the parking lot to their
class room.

***I am embarrassed by the way I look
***I will not allow myself to be seen by my husband's co-workers
***I have abdominal overhang

The items with an asterisk *** are the problems I still have, but the rest of it raw has taken care of.

Raw Baby

November 19, 2005

My nephew weaned himself and refused to take the breast or breast milk when he was a year old so my sister switched him to formula. Then he didn't want formula. The formula that raw baby was on was causing his poop to be mucousy.

This poop is causing his cute little baby butt to become red and blistered. We decided to take him off formula and put him on almond milk. He only takes three bottles a day now anyway; when he first wakes up, naptime, and at night. We have to sweeten it with agave, but that's ok.

The next thing is that he only wants raw food, but is picky about which ones. We are worried that his nutritional needs are not being met, so we purchased baby vitamins.

He still wants a bottle when he goes to sleep. He is too young to be taken off the bottle yet. He eats raw food the rest of the day.

November 20, 2005

The problem we were having is that he wouldn't eat the greens. He went off the breast to juicy fruits. He likes carrots, peas, bananas, tomatoes, and sweet drinks I make in the Vita Mix. All the stuff he loves is out of season.

We have not tried dates...I will though. He is with his dad this weekend. It's funny to us because his dad tries to feed him cooked food and raw baby keeps spitting it out. Dad is so confused.

November 21, 2005
He loves the banana in soaked oatmeal. His dad tried to give him sausage and biscuit but he shook his head no and proceeded to walk over and nod at my soaked oats.

Really, he loves raw. I was shopping in Whole Foods with him and three of his siblings when he stood up in the cart and grabbed an heirloom tomato, shoved it in his mouth and sat down again. In the meantime, my three year old was licking the broccoli! Love that they are raw, now I must teach them that the world is not their sample!!!

November 22, 2005

My sister made hard boiled eggs for the family. Raw baby thought he wanted one, so she gave it to him. He spit it out, and got fussy. Then she opened a container of blueberries, and he laughed. He laughed!!! He wolfed the blueberries, and then had mangoes.

We chose almond milk because it is all we know besides the breast and formula. He likes it and it is easy to make. Then we were advised that almond milk isn't right for babies either and wondered if we should try coconut milk. Greens were also suggested.

When he is with his dad on the weekend and he tries to feed him cooked food, raw baby keeps spitting it out. We tried avocado and dates also.

November 28, 2005

Raw baby loves to suck on mangoes. This morning he crawled into the fridge and started eating pea pods for breakfast.

December 5, 2005

Her husband is very supportive now of her raw diet. He has offered to make her raw food, and wants the entire family to go raw.

December 06, 2005

We took Raw Baby to Whole Foods again. He was like a baby bird with its beak open waiting for mamma bird to shove food in. He grabbed a cantaloupe and tried to get the rind off with his teeth. He wolfed down cherries, atriums, orange, clementines, honeydew, and raw tomato soup. He acted like he had not eaten for a week. He was so happy and excited several people commented on him, and he had several people in the store smiling and even laughing.

January 10, 2006

My sister came over today and started making raw fudge in the food processor. As soon as Raw Baby heard the machine start whirring, he came running into the kitchen laughing. We just started laughing ourselves. He knows something good is coming. Like a cat when they hear the can opener. He loves green smoothies and my sister puts herbal fruit tee in his bottle. He likes to have a bottle at night still; otherwise he eats all day long, almost all raw.

March 25, 2006

My sister's husband was laid off from work. She literally had no food in the house, not in the cupboards and not in the fridge. She had only five dollars left to feed the family, so she bought cheap pancake mix and some beans. Pancake mix will fill the stomachs of many.

Raw Baby finally ate, but for a week was cranky and clingy and refusing food. When I picked him and my sister up and went to Whole Foods. He wolfed down an entire piece of raw carrot cake from the raw foods bar, ate some of my raw tostada, ate many blueberries, raw applesauce, and was laughing the whole time. He laughed and gave out smiles and hugs. He had returned back to his normal self. My sister started crying thinking that her baby had been so hungry. He also grabbed a tomato and chowed down.

Rawboy binged on raw foods, and perhaps we should have stopped him from eating so much, but we fed him until he wanted to stop. He slept all the way home and woke up happy.

This is more proof to me that we are meant to be raw.

April 24, 2006

I bought Raw Baby what I thought was raw macadamia nuts, but he spit them out. My sister and I looked at one another and we said, "They are not raw."

Cheri's Husband

October 13, 2005

I have to tell you about my night. The husband emails me and wants to take me to my favorite restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Problem is my old favorite is no longer my favorite. I start to stress because I don't want to tell him no, but I don't want to go out because I don't feel strong enough yet. Sami suggested Whole Foods.

So we went, and on the way downtown I told him what I learned today. He actually listened and asked questions. We got to Whole Foods and I ordered a raw tostada and a piece of raw cheesecake. He got Chinese. We paid for our food and went to eat on the third-floor, outside, balcony. He was very curious about what I was eating and tasted it and liked it. Throughout the evening he asked questions. Tomorrow he does not want meat on mayo and white bread; he wants me to fix him fruit!!!

October 18, 2005

The first time I served my husband a vegetarian dish, he pushed the food around with his fork and asked, "Where's the meat?"

We used to eat a chunk of meat, gravy with potatoes, veggies from a can (gross) and a gallon of Kool-aid every night. Sometimes we'd have a baked potato or rice with the meat. Then I started to eat raw, but I still had to cook for the family. I started grilling our meats, making huge salads with raw goodies, and huge fruit salads. At first the kids and the husband asked for seconds on the meat and shied away from the salad and fruit. Now they wolf down the salad and fruit and ask for more. They made the choice all on their own without me saying a word.

August 22, 2006

The husband came in last night and asked me if I would stop buying vegetarian lunch meat for him because he is OVER the meat thing. Then he asked me if I was sure eating raw was the right thing to do.

He has flipped flopped in the past as he and I have had a few discussions of eating meat. I feel he is catching up to me on the raw path, and soon we'll be equals and teaching our kids.

He asked me if I was sure eating raw was the right thing to do. He said that he is worried about what to eat when he goes out with the guys at work.

He feels that eating salad is "not cool", and he wonders what we will serve the kids when they are having a party over here. He doesn't think the kids will want fruit.

August 23, 2006

I packed my husband's lunch the same as the kids. He ate all of it, and said it was good and that he really appreciated it. I know I'm not properly food combining, and mixing fats and all that, but I packed a pecan salad with pecan, dried apple bits, and raisins; a smoothie, carrot sticks, a plum, and a Lara bar.

February 08, 2006

I think my husband is finally on the same page as me. He takes over the kitchen on Sundays, and when I was tired of being raw and wanted to have a tuna sandwich with everyone else, he encouraged me to stick with it, and a few minutes later handed me a plate of celery sticks, sliced cucumbers, oranges, and tomatoes. I ate it, felt better and was able to get back into the raw mind set. He made sandwiches for the kids, and instead of chips he sliced up various fruits for them to eat.

May 03, 2006

Today he came home from work and ate raw with me. We had pineapple-mango salsa with avocado and tortillas and watermelon for dessert. My love for him increased 100 fold with his support. He is supporting me and has joined me in being vegetarian except when he goes out. When I was struggling he suggested that I fix a raw dinner for the entire family.

January 18, 2006

I made enchilada pie for the family. I used rice instead of meat, and everyone, even my picky husband loved it and asked for more. I licked the spoon after serving my kids, and they all jumped up from the table and chased me out of the kitchen.

November 04, 2006
My husband came into my office last night and told me to serve raw dinners, and if the kids won't eat it, then they go to bed hungry.

November 7, 2006

He approached me and asked me to get back to raw. I told him how I had felt de-railed and why. He told me to get back to serving the family raw food, and that we need to be eating dinner as a family...together.

He called a family meeting and informed the kids of how we will be eating here in the home. He told them that they can make their own choice while with friends or in school. They have been educated on how different foods impact their bodies just as they have drugs and alcohol. They will have to someday make a choice over that too.

A couple of the kids complained and the rest were ok with it. It is the oldest and youngest who are upset about it.

They are making good choices 1/4 to 1/2 of the time in school. I am pleased with the way things are for now. My daughter said something about having raw again, and I told her that she gets to eat whatever she wants at school within reason. And that eating one raw meal is something she has to get used to.

Then she said she does not like salad and proceeded to have two plates full.

September 26, 2006

Dave read Susan Schneck's book, The Live Food Factor, last night. He said that the book made him angry; angry at his parents, at the medical profession, (of whom he was almost a part) and at our culture in general. He says he has to make a paradigm shift now, and it is painful.

He has arthritis in his hands, the kind that swells up the knuckles. He was in constant pain. He told me that he is no longer in pain. I told him it was because he had been eating high raw and if he will go 100% with me the swollen fingers will go away too.

He is ready for another book. When you're new you have to keep reading or the old thoughts will crush the new ones. So in order to push out the old, you have to infiltrate your brain with all new stuff, yeah, brainwash yourself.

April 24, 2006

A few months ago, Dave was embarrassed to be a vegetarian in front of the "guys". They went out to lunch and he ordered a vegetarian dish. I'm proud of him. He said that it has been my influence which has influenced him. Tonight he did not bat an eye when all we had for dinner was corn and oranges and neither did the kids.

July 13, 2006

After falling back into eating raw, my husband and my kids asked me to please return to raw. Dave noticed the difference in me whereas before, in the beginning, he noticed nothing and even fought me in this new lifestyle.

August 7, 2006

The husband went out to lunch with a couple of buddies from work. The buddies decided on a steak house, and my husband ordered salad. Of course they harassed him about going to a steak house and ordering salad.

Dave told them meat was not a healthy way to eat. He told them I had become a vegetarian and lost over 70 pounds. They wanted to know what we ate.

He begins by telling them that I make a "to die for" pot roast with mashed potatoes and gravy...gets them all envious like. He says that now I'm a vegetarian he works hard all day just to go home to watermelon for dinner. The buddies look aghast. That's all you ate? Just watermelon?

He is getting a kick out of their reaction and goes on to explain not only does she not eat meat but she will eat nothing cooked either. They are all like what do you mean raw?

By the end of the lunch session the friends are walking away thinking they too should become vegetarian. (Note: You see how the great results with raw foods makes it spread far and wide to all the people you contact.)

Remember how hard it was for us in the beginning? It's nice to have him on the path with me even if he is not in the same place.

August 15, 2006

Taking the older four kids out, one son asked my husband for a hamburger and he said no. I asked my son why a McDonald's hamburger? And he said because it was right there. He then said there is no harm in asking for a hamburger. My husband answered him and said there's no harm in asking for a cigarette either. Then Dave explained to him that we do not eat that.

Cheri's Kids
Cheri's children are 13, 12, 11, 10, 8, and 7 years old.

January 1, 2006

I am drinking my green smoothie as we speak. My teenaged daughter made it for me. She is excited to help me and even made dinner the other night.

March 26, 2006

My kids are choosing more and more fruits and veggies. I am very proud of them. We went as a family to an all you can eat pizza/arcade/ movie place, and three of my kids loaded up at the salad bar with salad and fruit. The other two went for the pizza, but chose vegetarian. And only two went for the dessert bar, but ended up not eating it after tasting it. These are such great strides.

April 17, 2006

My oldest boy went raw with me, the middle boy has become a vegetarian, and the youngest will do whatever his father does. One night dinner was watermelon, and a couple of hours later I had a couple of kids hungry and asking for bananas! The high schooler wanted to cook some eggs, and I told her no. She screamed at me that she is not raw and why am I forcing her to be raw?

July 13, 2006

My second daughter and son are raw with me. The other kids will be raw one day and not the next day. The oldest daughter complained the loudest when we started, but is now the most supportive. We have family meetings once a week where the kids can talk about anything. She researched and taught us a lesson on why we should not eat meat.

My second daughter told me that she does not feel as angry when she is raw. She made the family smoothies yesterday. That was the best smoothie ever.

My second son told me that he liked doing dishes now that we are raw because they are easier to clean. My third son said that he eats less while raw and that he doesn't want as much food.

July 19, 2006

Another son came into my office telling me it was his body and why can't he do with his body what he wants. He said he wished I had never heard of raw because I've taken away his favorite foods. I was filled with empathy and asked him what was his favorite, so I could make the raw substitute? Then he said Krispy Kreme doughnuts and cookies! I printed an article off the net entitled 76 Ways Sugar Can Ruin Your Health and made him write down all the ways sugar is bad for you that he had never heard of before. I think he was just having a bad de-tox.

August 4, 2006

My second daughter and son have been doing very well staying on and choosing raw food. They struggle of course, and they "cheat" (which is OK) when they are with their church youth group on Wednesday nights. When I say it's ok, I mean that I know in time they will no longer want that food. I'm sure it's a social thing for them now.

My second daughter asked if she could have ranch on her spinach salad, and I said yes. She ended up wiping it off and not eating it, saying that it did not taste good. She's getting there!

Her teachers have wanted me to put her on Ritalin so that she will calm down and focus at school. I'm pleased to report that raw has mellowed her out. She is much easier to live with. I can tell immediately if she has eaten something cooked, and she herself told me she does not want to take Sundays off anymore because she does not want to be mad on Mondays anymore.

August 22, 2006

One night she asked if she could have a smoothie for dinner. "Sure," I said, "And make a couple for your sisters while you're at it. The entire family had smoothies and was perfectly happy with that. My kids like their smoothies better if I let them make them themselves.

August 23, 2006

She came home raging one night and I figured she traded food or bought something she should not have. She has her own money, and I don't feel like I can monitor everyone's money all of the time. I have to teach them and hope they make the right choices.

September 08, 2006

One of the ideas I got about raising raw kids was to let them look through a raw recipe book and choose a dinner that they were drawn to and then to let them make it. This was a complete success, and the kids who made the food loved it the most.

They made tacos, tuna salad, Shish Kabobs, tomato stackers, and zucchini Alfredo. I had asked my youngest daughters to set the table and to decorate the plates. They put the sliced tomatoes on the plate like a big smiley face using the dino kale as the eyes. My youngest got out the wine goblets and placed a bunch of red grapes in each one, so on that night we had wine and pasta.

September 12, 2006

Last night I made my family stir fry with broccoli, onion, garlic, pea pods, summer squash, sesame, zucchini, Napa cabbage and used a sauce of olive oil, vinegar, and Nama Shoyu. I realize that it is not optimal, but it is transitional. My entire family except for the youngest was happy with it. Last week I made mock tuna salad which everyone liked and ate. I made zucchini pasta with Alfredo sauce. All these things I make take only a couple of minutes in the food processor, easy and quick and my kids and husband like it.

November 16, 2006

My son came home from school today bragging that he was six days at 100%. Somehow he convinced the lunch ladies to let him get food from the teacher's cafeteria. He loads up his plate with fruit, and they only charge him a dollar.

November 20, 2006

My 12 year old went on a campout this weekend with his scout troop. On the first night he was served a foil supper containing chicken, potatoes and veggies. The leader explained vegetarianism to the boys, and asked if there was a volunteer who would exchange their veggies for my son's meat. A couple of boys traded, and my son had enough to eat. I asked my son if it had been hard to not eat the meat that was there at every meal, and this is what he said:

"I'm over meat mom. I will only eat it if I need it to keep from dying." There was a maturity about him as I looked into his blue eyes. It made me cry for some reason.

I'm proud of him. I remember how hard it was for me to give up meat, and how long it took for the wanting of it to go away.

Cheri's Sisters

November 13, 2005

My sister went from a size 20 to a size 14! She went shopping for a new dress in the larger sizes department as she is used to it, but the saleswoman pulled her into the smaller sizes. She was shocked to be in a 14. She looks so good in her new clothes.

September 16, 2006

Sami had her baby today...it's a girl, 6 pounds, 19 inches! She named her S, beautiful baby girl.

The doctors were amazed at how little bleeding she had, and the color of the placenta. The baby received the highest Apgar scoring the hospital gives out. (Comment: Apgar is a test developed to evaluate health of newborns.)

Sam has never carried a baby to term except for this one. She has always had to be induced into labor except for this one. She normally takes six doses of meds, but only took 1.75.

She says that a raw pregnancy was a cake walk, and the raw delivery was way easier, but still way painful. She thinks she should not have cheated so much. (Comment: She wasn't 100% raw her whole pregnancy.)

S is a very calm baby. She has none of the health problems that the other six have consistently had. It is just so amazing. Sami and I are convinced that it is because she is raw.

Also Sami is finally convinced about vaccinations, and even though she is being pressured from her husband and his family she demanded that S receive no shots. It is criminal that we vaccinate infants and babies.

I hope Cheri Jones's story of Raw Transformation was helpful to you in some way.

To Your Radiant Health, Happiness and Fitness, Roger Haeske

P.S. The most important elements to succeeding with going raw are:

1. Overcoming cooked food addiction which is easiest if you learn my proprietary, desire crushing methods like the Raw Food Warrior Guided Visualization Audio. I share these methods on the forum and in my ebook "Think and Go Raw," and the audio program "Your First 30-Days Raw.

2. Following a healthy raw food diet. Many of the current programs out there will actually lead to health problems. The Optimal Raw Food Diet is the closest diet to what we'd be following in nature.

3. Getting support from an experienced raw food mentor or coach and a supportive group of raw foodists. You get all that and more in our coaching forums, for the lowest price you can imagine.

Visit http://www.howtogoraw.com/ and you'll discover that going raw is easier if you do it the right way.

What's Wrong With Cooked Food?

Most people assume cooking food is natural and healthy. Why not, that is what they've been eating their whole lives. But if you think about it, we are the only species on the planet that cooks its food.

There are numerous studies and chemical analysis done to cooked food and to people who eat the cooked food to prove these points. Just the boiling of one potato creates 420 new molecules that didn't exist in the raw potato. These new molecules are considered as toxins to the body and that is why our white blood cell count can more than double right after consuming cooked food.

What I've done is recorded an excellent article about this very point for you to listen to. This audio is a little under 11 minutes in length. You can pause, rewind and fastforward if you wish.

Members of http://HowToGoRaw.com have access to a growing list of informative audios, ebooks, special reports and our forum about raw food nutrition, health and fitness by world class experts in the field. Everything you need to learn to succeed at the Optimal Raw Food Diet is provided for you.

The great thing about audios is that you can listen to them whenever you want. When you read an article, the only thing you can do is read. But when you listen, you can do chores around the home, drive or get other work done while listening. It's a real time saver. In our member's only site, you also get access to the mp3 version of the files so you can listen to them in your Ipods.

One of the most vital ingredients to raw food diet success however, is not just the information, but feedback from a coach or mentor who is a 100% raw foodist. Unfortunately reading is not even close to being enough for most people.

I see this every day in my member's only forum. Most of these people have read a lot about the raw food diet. But it's one thing to read and another thing to practice it. There are many pitfalls that come up and it's incredibly helpful to have a supportive, and nonjudgmental community and an experienced coach, expert in motivational psychology to help you get past any sticking points.
There are so many subtle little ideas that have to be right in your belief system before you'll be able to stay raw for the long haul. I call it gaining the mindset of a 100% raw foodist. Reading and doing the diet alone is usually not enough to gain this mindset.

You need supportive people doing the same thing as you and if possible the help of a successful 100% raw foodist. I tried for five years to succeed with just books and I wasn't able to do so. My mindset or belief system was just off. And I read many raw food books. Which in some ways made things worse.

What I really needed was a raw food community and a mentor. When I got that, coupled with the right way to do the raw food diet (Optimal Raw) I was finally able to succeed for the long term.

Consider joining HowToGoRaw.com and you'll learn all the tricks to make staying raw enjoyable as well as being the healthiest thing you can do for yourself. This will save you years of struggle and frustration. Why reinvent the wheel?

Factors That Interfere With Vitamin Utilization

Have you ever considered that nutrition is not just about getting more vitamins, minerals and nutrients? What about increasing the bodies ability to utilize and absorb the nutrients it takes in?

Then another factor is simply not destroying those nutrients by the cooking process. Today I've recorded for you an article by the late T.C. Fry on this very subject. It's effective and to the point. The whole recording is shorter than 4 and a half minutes.

Raw Food Skeptic Answered

This is a great article by Dr. Douglas Graham critiquing Dr. Andrew Weil who has criticized the raw food diet.

I've read that article by Dr. Weil and Doug's response to him was magnificent.

http://snipurl.com/12876

This should open your eyes to some of the false propaganda being taught about the raw food diet. It's really just a complete lack of understanding by Dr. Weil. He speaks of what he does not know.

17 Studies Done on Raw Foodists

So you want to see some actual studies on people who consume a raw food diet. This page by Don Bennett gives you a list of 17 of those studies and you get Don's comments to help you read between the lines.

I haven't read them all yet, but have in the past encountered many of these. You can send you're sceptic friends to this site to help convince them of the benefits of eating a raw food diet.

Freedom To Fascism

Hi Folks,

Please, please, please, take the time to watch this movie. You'll thank me for it later, if you haven't already seen it.

I've been talking about "Freedom To Fascism" by Aaron Russo for months. I saw it about 7 times in the theater. Now you can see the whole movie for free on Google.

Here's the link:

http://snipurl.com/10kc8

It's important for everyone around the world, not just American's to know the information in this movie. In the final analysis it's not about Income Taxes but the New World Order that is most definitely forming. I have no doubt about that whatsoever. There are too many facts to prove it.

What does the New World Order or the Globalist Agenda mean to you? It means a gradual lowering of your freedoms. This has already been going on since at least 1913 in the United States. Actually at least since the Civil War. Of course African Americans gained freedom because of that war, but States Rights in the United States were drastically reduced because of that war.

What about 9/11, who was really behind that? Read this link below to find out how a member of the Rockefeller family admitted to knowing about a major event that would enable the United States to enter Afghanistan and Iraq. This was quite a bit prior to 9/11.
http://prisonplanet.com/articles/october2006/281006rockefellerpredicted.htm

The average American back then had much more freedom to do with his life as he wished. The members of the New World Order want one government controlling the whole world. When you have just one locus of control it's much cheaper and easier to have things your way. And trust me you don't want these people running your lives.

They are truly the most evil people on the planet. They are the people behind the drug companies. They will do anything to stifle what would get in the way of their profits.

Did you know that John Rockefeller was the person responsible for our current medical system monopoly in the United States. It's all designed to sell drugs. The ironic thing is he never used his own drugs, but instead did Homeopathy.

Read this page to get just a little bit of insight into the dangers of this medical monopoly.
http://health.benabraham.com/html/fountain_of_youth_-_nature_s_h.html

I highly recommend you read this book for yourself. You'll soon realize that the drug cartel is responsible for the deaths of millions of people because of their stifling of inexpensive and non-toxic treatments for a whole range of diseases, including cancer.

My mother would still be alive if the people behind the FDA, AMA etc, were actually altruistic. But it's all about profit. You can say they are actually committing genocide for profit.

And this is just the tip of the iceburg of the New World Order.

Did you know that in the United States each state used to have it's own currency and own militia. The idea was to have as small a federal government as possible. Our founding fathers knew that it was important to spread the power. The states used to have many more rights and freedoms.

The problem is people have no idea how much their liberty has been circumscribed already.

It's like the story of the frog in the boiling pot of water. Stick the frog into a boiling pot of water and he'll jump out right away. But put the frog into the pot with the water at room temperature and gradually raise it to the boiling point and he will die in the pot.

The change is too gradual for him to notice and it kills him. This is the same thing that is happening to Americans and people around the world.

The ultimate goal of the New World Order is control of the whole planet and part of that is the reduction of the world's population to about 500 million people. An obvious example of how they are actually profiting and reducing the world population at the same time is with the whole AIDS Hoax.

Check out my forum posts for more detailed information about that.

A Safe Alternative To Colonics & Cleanses

*** Superbeing Secrets ***
Raw Food, Fitness & Self-Mastery

There is a totally safe, natural and inexpensive alternative to doing colonics and using intestinal cleansing products. I explain further below in my response.

*~*~*~*~*

I received the question below via email from one of my subscribers and thought I'd share my answer with you. I answer a question about too much fruit consumption and about the need for doing colonics.

This is a very important email for you to read. It could actually save your life and keep you from serious health problems.

I'll respond in the body of her email. You'll see my commentary preceded by * Roger H: and ending with +++++++. Then I'll continue on after getting into more detail her second question.

*~*~*~*~*

Dear Roger,

I am grateful for your emails; they are all extremely helpful. I feel remarkably better having cut back on raw fats. I think they were accounting for over 25% of my caloric intake. I relied on them in large part because I was restricting my intake of fruits. Having put on unwanted excess weight, I was trying to keep carbohydrates to a minimum and thought I should limit/eliminate fruit.

* Roger H: Thank you for your nice comments. Firstly I'd like to say that I am giving generic advice. I don't know you or your health condition personally. Therefore what I say may not exactly apply to your individual situation. However, I will give you generic advice.

Unfortunately, you've been deceived by unsound nutritional advice. This is another example of extreme misinformation from all the so-called raw food and nutrition books out there.

I used to erroneously believe the same thing because of all the false nutrition propaganda I was reading. There is a lot of bad science and nutrition advice in the world today. People, (even extremely smart people) are easily fooled because it's quite a complex subject.

Eating fruit or even eating carbohydrates is not going to make you gain weight. It has more to do with the kind of carbohydrates you eat, what other foods you eat with those carbohydrates, how often you eat and also how much of these carbohydrates you eat.

If you eat 50% more calories than your body needs, then on any diet, you're likely going to gain weight, although less so on a raw food diet.

I only have about 5% body fat and in my cooked food days I was much higher, about 12%. Yet I eat more carbohydrates in my diet than I ever did while eating cooked food and I eat loads of fruit.

I have clients losing over 50 and 70 pounds eating the high fruit Optimal Raw Food Diet. I have a friend whose lost 100 pounds eating this way.
+++++++

I began to eat fruit again. However, I have a tendency to binge, and in the last few days I feel like I may be overdoing it with the fruit. How much is too much? I am concerned about the sugar/carbohydrate intake and also feel quite bloated. Today we picked strawberries and I must have eaten 2 pounds of them. Also, should I be sticking to certain fruits and limiting others? I love all fruit so I have trouble in this regard.

* Roger H: Yes we can eat too much of anything, even fruit. But if you eat enough greens each day and eat within your caloric needs, then you won't be overdoing fruit. We can eat lots of fruit and I know many people who eat the majority of their calories coming from fruit and they are in the best health they've ever been in.

I'd stay away from dried fruit and not overdo fatty fruit, like avocados or even durians. But in most cases it's next to impossible to overeat fruit. This is simply not a concern in most situations.

Also when you eat mostly raw fruits and greens you are going to feel bloated compared to your cooked food days or high fat raw days. That is natural because there are less calories per bite. You have to eat much more weight and volume to get enough calories. So this bloating you are experiencing is likely normal unless you are doing poor food combining and or eating lots of dehydrated foods.

+++++++

Is there a good resource which outlines what would be an ideal daily diet? For example, how many servings of fruit vs. leafy vegetables, amounts and frequency of each?

* Roger H: I simply suggest you join my raw food coaching, information and support website. You'll get all the psychological, dietary and support information you need to easily succeed at going raw. It's the quickest, easiest and most inexpensive way to succeed at going raw.

http://HowToGoRaw.com/success.html

+++++++

Finally, your email re: Dr. Douglas Graham's view of laxatives/colonics was helpful. Should I avoid colonics entirely? I am currently doing them about 4-5 times a week.

* Roger H: Short answer: Yes almost certainly if you value your health, you should stop doing colonics immediately. This is only generic advice. However, I don't really know any good or safe reasons to do colonics. I was once a believer in colonics, but that was before I had a better education. I'll elaborate more below.
+++++++

Please forgive me if I am asking for too much advice here. I know you are incredibly busy and understand if you do not have time to reply.

Thank you again for the wonderful work that you do.

All the best,

Gina

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Thanks for your great questions Gina. It has sparked a lot in me and I believe my responses will help you and many of my subscribers as this is very important information.

** More on the Dangers of Colonics:

Let me state here that I've done quite a bit of research on colonics and I have personally met some people that have had serious health problems as a result of doing them. I've read, I've talked to colon Hydrotherapists and even found out what surgeons actually see when they operate on colons. So I'm not lightly throwing out these ideas.

Someone I know had two hernia operations after getting regular colonics. These were using the so-called safe type of colonics.

We don't know for sure if the colonics caused his hernias but I do know he stopped doing colonics because of these hernias. Nevertheless, I'll share more examples of what has happened to people doing colonics.

Unfortunately for some, one of the side effects of colonics is death. Death is not a good side effect.

** The Natural Alternative To A Colonic:

The point is, we don't need colonics to clean out our intestines. Especially if you are eating an all raw food diet. The raw diet is super high in fiber, the fiber from fruits and vegetables act like an intestinal broom and in no time, you're colon will be as clean as it possibly can be.

Also the fibers from fruits and vegetables are much safer to eat than the sharp and harsh fibers that are found in the colon cleansing products and supplements you can buy in a health food store. These fibers can actually cut your intestinal wall.

** There Are No Colonics in Nature:

You don't see a bear going to a waterfall and sticking up his butt. In my opinion colonics are not only unnecessary in almost all situations, but they are also dangerous.

Did you know that at least 7 people have died as a direct result of doing colonics? It's probably a much higher number as the study I read that from was done a long time ago. Did you know that some people as a result of doing colonics can no longer go to the bathroom without doing a colonic?

Here's some information about this from Dr. Douglas Graham on CD number 10 of The Perfect Health Program, entitled "The Surprising Truth About Cleanses, Flushes, Colonics and Detoxification.

http://www.howtogoraw.com/PerfectHealth.html

According to Dr. Graham in his over 25 years as a health practitioner, he has run into a woman who after just one colonic could never again have a bowel movement on her own, without the aid of a colonic. Imagine being forced to have daily colonics for the rest of your life, just so you can go to the bathroom?

He also met a man that had the same exact problem after just three colonics. And also another man that had it happen to him after six or so colonics.

All I can say is that this CD is amazing; in it you'll learn what is really going on when it comes to detoxification. All sorts of false concepts that most people believe are factually disputed and you'll save your health and a lot of money because you'll never need to do a colonic or to purchase any expensive and dangerous cleansing program ever again.

http://www.howtogoraw.com/PerfectHealth.html

** Why Take A Chance With Your Health?

Why take such a chance. Even if only 1 in 1,000 or even 10,000 people ever gets injured by doing colonics, do you want to take that chance? It's an unnecessary risk if you eat a clean raw food diet.

The fruit acids and all the fibers in the diet will help your body to clean itself out naturally. I don't know any raw foodist eating an Optimal Raw Food Diet who needs a colonic.

** Everyone Has An Agenda: Determine It To Steer You Clear of Scams

Most people who are aware of alternative healing methods believe it's only the Dr.'s and drug companies that are financially biased in their recommendations.

But they aren't the only ones who are unduly influenced by money. People promoting colonics have a lot of money to gain for each customer they get. Some people do 4 or 5 colonics a week. That can be a fantastic source of income.

So just beware that people promoting, supplements, colonics and cleanses may have more than your best health in mind when they make their recommendations.

Keep in mind I feel all people have an agenda and are biased, even if money isn't the reason for the bias. Always keep that in mind, whether in communications from me or anyone else.

** What is My Bias?

Yes I am biased. In this case, of not recommending colonics, it's not likely to help me financially. In fact, it may hurt me to state the truth. You see many of my subscribers use colonics regularly, some of them I know are Colon Hydrotherapists.

I know because I've gotten many angry emails in the past. These people assume I am ignorant about colonics, but I feel they are the ones who need to learn more.

These people are not going to like what I have to say, unless they are interested in the truth and their health. Many of these people are likely to unsubscribe after reading just a little bit of my message.

My agenda is to help you unleash your infinite potential via any safe and natural means possible. An Optimal Raw Food Diet is just one of the ways to achieve that goal.

I also want to earn a living while doing so. So I show you the products and services I have tried and believe in the most. This is my agenda and keep it in mind with any recommendations I make.

Raw foodists are famous for doing colonics and if I were devious, I could convince you to do colonics and I could make a ton of profit. But the fact of the matter is that raw foodists are the people least in need of a colonic and colonics simply aren't safe.

Doing colonics is invasive and quite risky. Why do colonics when you can get perfectly cleaned out with nature's methods.

** The Colon Isn't Designed For Sending Things Back Up:

Nothing is supposed to go in the colon. The colon is designed to send waste material out, not back in.

If you want to do a cleansing correctly, you have to pick the right bodily entrance and direction. And the best way to clean out is by putting raw foods into your mouth or the beginning of the digestive tract.

The average American gets only 5 grams of fiber a day, and has a food transit time of four days. That means that the waste products from what they eat, stay in their bodies for four days. Most Americans are constipated, poisoned and acidic and this seems to make colonics such a great solution at first glance.

On average, I get 90 grams of fiber per day and I have 2 to 6 bowel movements per day. That's 18 times more fiber than people on the Standard American/Western Diet. The last day I tracked, May 30, 2006 I ate 96 grams of fiber.

With that much fiber naturally occurring in the Optimal Raw Food Diet, I have no need to take any psyllium seeds, or Ejuva or any other colon cleansing product. Not to mention that I have zero need for colonics.

If you are a raw foodist, eating an Optimal Raw Food Diet, there simply is no need for colonics or colon cleanses.

Beware that eating a lot of dehydrated crackers and foods isn't optimal for keeping your colon clean. But then again, those foods are not part of a natural diet and certainly not part of the Optimal Raw Food Diet.

http://HowToGoRaw.com/success.html

Once you eat this way, stop eating dairy and grains and use proper food combining and you'll have a crystal clear colon. Some people might need to water fast for a few days before they go all raw, but they certainly shouldn't risk the dangers of colonic irrigation.

To Your Radiant Health, Happiness and Fitness, Roger Haeske

P.S. Get detailed information about how the body detoxifies itself and why colonics, cleanses and flushes are not the answer on CD # 10 of The Perfect Health Program.

The Importance of Being Accurate and Objective

Hey Folks,

This is a great article I received via email. He's hitting on the
exact same points I've been trying to emphasize to you guys. This
applies to not only losing weight but succeeding with your raw diet.
You don't want to leave this to guesswork.

If something isn't working with your program you'll need to tweek it
and fine tune it. But you can't do that unless you are very precise
and objective with what you are doing. You have to know how many
calories you're consuming on average. You have to know precisely
which foods you are eating and if you have a reaction after a certain
kind or even certain food combination.

You end up becoming like a scientist. Like Thomas Edison doing over
10,000 experiments before he made a working electric lightbulb.
Sometimes it takes a very high level of diligence to make a diet and
or weight loss program work for you. People are all different and
come in with differing levels of health. So what one person can do
right away, won't be the same for everyone.

I'll let Craig Ballantyne make the point with his great article
below. Just use your imagination and you can apply the same ideas to
succeeding with your raw food diet. I'm not recommending his diet
plan, because I don't know it, but simply the principles he states
in his article below.

Fat loss is easy once you understand how hard it is.

Once you realize that fat loss is hard work, and not just as easy as
eating some celery, drinking really cold water, and slamming down
some "metabolism boosters", that's when you'll really start to get
results.

When you accept sticking to your nutrition program will take effort,
only then will you start planning and preparing your nutrition to
meet your fat loss goals.

Same with exercise. When you understand that harder workouts are
more effective, then you'll start to plan your workouts accordingly.

Over the past year I've interviewed over a dozen fitness models (men
and women) for Oxygen and Maximum Fitness magazines, and their
secrets to success are as plain as day.

They know it is going to be hard work to get ready for a photoshoot,
but what do they know that you don't know?

First, they've got their nutrition plans down perfectly. And when I
say planned out, I don't just mean they have a meal plan torn out of
a magazine. Instead, they have their shopping lists prepared. They
have time set aside for cooking, cutting, and chopping. These men and
women have more than enough tupperware to store and freeze their food
for the week.

Fitness models take their meals with them and aren't so naive as to
believe that they will be able to find something "healthy" at work or
on the road. They are not willing to sacrifice results for
convenience. They have accepted the hard work that comes with eating
for fat loss. Have you?

Second, fitness models know what works - not only in the kitchen,
but also in the gym. They've recorded their workouts, studied the
effects of various exercises, rep ranges, and workout frequencies.

They have accepted that their can be NO guesswork in a fat loss
workout program. That's why fitness models plan their workouts in
advance, and write down the results in a training log for analysis.
If you aren't doing that, then you're doing nothing more than playing
a workout "lottery" and hoping you'll come up lucky.

Third, and perhaps most importantly (because its hard to have the
first two factors without this one), fitness models surround
themselves with a supportive environment and social support groups.

How many fitness models do you think are married to sedentary,
overweight smokers? How many fitness models do you think hang around
men and women that start drinking at 4pm every Friday?

Having the right social support group and supportive environment can
make or break your fat loss program in less than a minute.

Research shows this. Experience proves this.

All it takes is a bunch of co-workers to surround you at your desk
with a box of doughnuts and pressure you into "having just one". The
next thing you know its 3 days later and you haven't had a decent
meal since.

According to the research on social support for fat loss, there are
at least 2 proven ways to harness the powers of others for your fat
loss goals.

First, include a health professional in your social support group.
This could be your doctor, a nutritionist, or a trainer that you see
on a regular basis. But you need to be accountable to someone. This
will work best for those of you that can't find support among your
family, friends, or co-workers.

Second, if a member of your social support group also loses weight,
you'll have a greater chance of succeeding. So try and get family
members, friends, and co-workers directly involved. Get them from
cheerleaders to active participants in the fight against fat.

I hope these tips help you out. If you don't have any social support
right now, by all means, send me an email on your progress and at
least hold yourself accountable to me.

I promise you Turbulence Training will give you to the fat loss you
deserve and desire.

Sincerely,

Craig Ballantyne, CSCS, MS Author, Turbulence Training
